Where to Stay Near the Place des Vosges

Sleep a few steps from the royal square and walk everywhere. Here is where to stay.

The Marais is one of the best places to stay in Paris: central, safe, walkable, full of restaurants and open on Sundays, with the Seine and the islands a few minutes away and Métro line 1 running straight to the Louvre and the Champs-Élysées. Staying here means you can see the Place des Vosges early in the morning, before the day visitors arrive.

There are two sensible areas. Around the square, Saint-Paul and the Bastille puts you within five minutes of the Place des Vosges, with Le Pavillon de la Reine on the square itself. Elsewhere in the Marais and on the Île Saint-Louis offers design and boutique hotels in the Haut-Marais and near the Hôtel de Ville, plus two lovely hotels on the island.

Paris hotel prices vary enormously with the date — trade fairs, Fashion Weeks and holidays push them up sharply — so we don’t print nightly rates. Guest scores are from Trip.com; every card links out for live availability.

Booking tips

  • Rooms in historic Marais buildings are often small, and some have no lift — check before booking if it matters.
  • The Paris tourist tax is charged per person per night on top of the room rate.
  • Avoid trade-fair and Fashion Week dates if you can: prices jump.
  • Ask for a room on the courtyard side for quiet, especially near the Bastille.
